How do I know if I must attend a specific court setting?

Your attorney may be able to handle some court appearances without you but you should assume that your attendance is required at every setting unless your attorney explicitly tells you otherwise.

Contact your attorney’s office if you are not 100% sure of when your next court date is scheduled or whether you are required to attend.

If you miss a required court appearance, the judge is likely to blame you rather than your attorney, even if it seems unfair. The judge may even forfeit your bond, issue a warrant for your arrest, or even charge you with a new crime like Failure to Appear or Bail Jumping.

The attorneys at The Pace Law Firm, P.C., understand that our clients are busy people so we do not require clients to personally attend court when the judge allows us to handle the appearance for them.
