What should I wear to court?
For defendants represented by defense attorneys, ordinary court appearances tend to primarily involve a lot of waiting around and little or no contact with the judge or prosecutor, so I recommend wearing business casual for comfort.
When appearing in court for contested hearings and trial, a suit and tie or other suitable business attire is ideal. “Sunday best” is usually also fine.
It is a good idea to bring a book or magazine to help minimize boredom. If you plan to read an electronic tablet or e-Book then take care to mute the sound before entering the courtroom.
